**Los Desechos to Drop New Single “Valentino” on August 29th, 2024**
**AUSTIN, TEXAS** — Los Desechos, the latest Cumbia group from the "Live Music Capital of the World," is set to release their new single on August 29th, 2024. This dynamic group of veteran Austin musicians has come together to create a fresh and vibrant sound that pays homage to the danceable Cumbias of the 70s, with a modern twist.
Comprised of John Dell on guitar (El Combo Oscuro/El Tule/En Orbito), David Dalton on keys (Continental Drift), Jacob Rivera on bass (El Tule/Beat Eternal), Justin Czimskey on drums (El Tule), Mateo Turner (El Tule)and Michael Penic on timbales (El Tule), Los Desechos—meaning "The Scraps"—formed in early 2024 with a clear mission: to blow up local dance-floors with original Cumbias that resonate with the soul, and make the body feel alive.
Their music is heavily influenced by the psychedelic, chicha, and surf sounds, creating a unique mezcla that has already made waves in Austin's vibrant music scene. From performing at SXSW and UT frat parties to lighting up local festivals and dance parties, Los Desechos has quickly become a favorite among Austin’s growing dance community.
"Our goal is to bring back the kind of Cumbias you heard on 70s radio as you approached the Laredo border—the ones your neighbor who likes to party plays ‘till 3 AM. Those are the types of Cumbias we’re reviving," the band says.
Their upcoming single embodies their mission statement, *Cumbias Levantamuertos*—"Cumbias That Raise The Dead"—with a rhythm that is sure to ignite dance-floors and bring people together in the spirit of celebration and joy.
